The UTHSCSA/UTSA Cancer Bioinformatics Initiative is jointly sponsoring a one-day MATLAB Workshop on August 26, 2014 at the UTSA Campus. The workshop is free and open to the public. The morning session will cover aspects of data analysis, particularly the bioinformatics toolbox. The afternoon session will focus on optimization problems. A one-week Bioinformatics Practicum sponsored by the UTHSCSA/UTSA Cancer Bioinformatics Initiative will be held July 21-July 25, 2014 at the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute on the UTHSCSA campus, with video feed to the UTSA campus. The Practicum will provide an introduction to bioinformatics analysis topics including next-generation sequencing, microarray data analysis, proteomics, and metabolomics as well as hands on opportunities to analyze data. The UTHSCSA/UTSA Cancer Bioinformatics Initiative 2014 Summer Internship Program is underway. Five students from biology, computer science, engineering, physics, and statistics will be participating in a summer program of research in cancer bioinformatics and health disparities, mentored jointly by researchers at the UTHSCSA and UTSA. The group includes three undergraduates and two graduate students. Read more about the program and the research projects.
